Reengaging disadvantaged young mothers with education
Program: Breaking the Cycle and Building Bridges
Zoe Support is one of our seven successful 2017/ 2018 Ansvar Community Education Program grant recipients. It is a community based organisation operating within Mildura and surrounding districts. Breaking the Cycle and Building Bridges program will target disadvantaged and disengaged pregnant and or young mother to reengage with education.
The grant will cover half of the funds required for the program and will allow an Education Support Officer to be employed. The ES Officer will provide professional services to support young mothers’ transition back to education. They will also help to address barriers to successful education such as housing, transport and flexible pathways to obtain their qualifications.
Key Objectives:
-To increase the number of young pregnant and parenting mothers engaged in education in the Mildura region.
-To assist young pregnant and parenting mothers to reconnect with education to improve their overall economic outcomes for the future.
-Through improved education success, potential for increased employment outcomes and developed social capacity.
Expected outcomes from the program
With the on boarding of the Education Support Officer, Zoe Support can improve effectiveness and efficiencies to assess and address barriers to young parents ready to engage in education, training and employment.
Zoe Support aim to improve health and wellbeing outcomes for parents and children, along with increasing numbers of families accessing local health and community services.
